Step-By-Step DIY Installation Guide

1. Assess Your Site

Check the access and width (can a wheelbarrow or small machine get through the side gates?), measure the area, and whether any grass, mulch, pavers, or stones need to be removed. If you're installing over existing pavers, tiles or concrete in good condition, you can often lay directly on top.

2. Prepare the Sub-Base

Remove old lawn and vegetation, then level and compact your base. You'll need a minimum depth of 50mm of compacted crusher dust. If you're building up more than that, use compacted road base first, then spread and compact crusher dust. Grade the base so that water runs off to drains or garden beds.

3. Be aware of visual Clearances

Leave roughly a 10mm set-down against paths and pavers to avoid a trip hazard, and check the height of your termite barrier or weep hole. Most require a 75mm visual clearance to stay compliant.

4. Roll Out and Fit the Turf

Lay your turf, let it settle in the sun for an hour if it's come off a tight roll, then trim to fit. Turf pile should generally run in the same direction across joins.

5. Join and Secure

On crusher dust, we recommend forming a cement perimeter to glue the turf edges onto (this will not be visible once the turf is installed). Over concrete, pavers or CFC sheeting, a direct adhesive stick is enough. Use joining cloth and glue for seams if installing over sub-base.

6. Brush and Finish

A final brush against the grain lifts the pile and gives it that lush, finished look.

All installs are backed by our 12-month installation warranty, in addition to the 10-year turf warranty. There's no shame in doing the sub-base yourself and handing the fit-off to us, either.
